Prolotherapy
Prolotherapy is a treatment that involves injecting a small amount of a natural solution, usually sugar water (dextrose), into areas where tendons or ligaments are painful or injured.
The goal is to help the body heal itself by causing mild inflammation, which may encourage new tissue to grow and strengthen the area.
Prolotherapy is used for different types of chronic joint and tendon pain, such as knee arthritis, tennis elbow, and low back pain, especially when other treatments have not worked well.
Musculoskeletal Ultrasound
Musculoskeletal and procedure guidance ultrasound is a real-time, high-resolution imaging modality used to evaluate soft tissues, joints, tendons, ligaments, nerves, and bony surfaces, as well as to guide interventional procedures such as joint aspirations, injections, and biopsies. Its advantages include dynamic assessment, contralateral comparison, absence of ionizing radiation, portability, and the ability to visualize needle placement during interventions, which enhances procedural accuracy and safety.
The American Medical Society for Sports Medicine emphasizes that ultrasound guidance improves the precision and efficacy of musculoskeletal interventions, including aspirations, therapeutic injections, tenotomies, and hydrodissections, and is increasingly used for both established and advanced procedures in sports medicine
Platelet Rich Plasma
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a derivative of a person’s own blood that has a higher concentration of platelets than normal. Platelets help stop bleeding and also release natural substances called growth factors, which help the body heal injuries.
To make PRP, a small amount of blood is taken from the patient and spun in a machine to separate out the platelets, which are then injected into the area that needs healing, such as arthritic joints or injured tendons/ligaments.
PRP is thought to help reduce pain and speed up recovery by supporting the body’s natural repair process.
